Lately, he's been worried that his memory and sanity aren't quite intact.

Book six, eh? I was

Book six, eh? I was wondering, how far along are we in the great Diggory novel, do you know? Half way through? Two thirds? One third? A surprise ending on the next page (nooooo!)?

Interesting question...

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

I can't answer that question. For a number of reasons:

1. Calla from 2009 told Diggory he would die in September of that year. It has taken me a year and a half to get from September 2008 to November. By that scale, unless things speed up, it will be almost a decade before we reach that terminus -- because it seems to take me almost a year to write a month of Diggory's life.

2. I have a basic plot mapped out in my head that is extraordinarily complex. And these characters keep adding new layers of their own that make it even crazier. I didn't even know Zebediah was in this story until he showed up. So, if it would take me ten years to write the story in my head, then I'm sure these lively characters will make it longer.

3. I really hope it doesn't take me that long to get to September, and I have plans to speed that along -- but I can't give away any of the plans in my head right now because it would ruin so much for everyone! Some of the coolest things I have planned rely on surprise.

Go Diggory!

If you are going to die in 12 months, it is good to be able to take a year to live each month. That ability might actually be more useful than time travel.
