For the foreseeable future, I will be offline, so there will be no posts, no stories, no reviews. There have been significant changes to my work and family life that require some re-grouping. As soon as I'm able, I will return.
I just have no idea when that will be.

My father was a comic book fan. He grew up in the Marvel Era, when the Fantastic Four, Avengers, Spiderman and the X-men redefined what comics could be, in the early 1960s. "These aren't your dad's comic books" were the tagline back then, as Marvel's portrayals of superheroes as people first, heroes second, stood against the iconic DC characters that were primarily heroes in tights, with secret identities that were largely hollow.

So this is what I posted on my Facebook at the start of March:
Twins' Birthdays March 1
Preaching March 3
Eldest son's birthday March 6
Conference interview Board March 9
Surviving March Break 11th to 15th
Preaching March 24
Preaching Good Friday March 29
Preaching Resurrection Sunday March 31
What got added to that was a Presbytery Education and Students' committee interview on March 21, and after that there was a snow squall that put my car in the ditch so I had to go with my mother-in-law to get it out with a tow truck on March 22.
So it's been busy.

So we're in the middle of March Break trying to keep 5 little kids busy -- and it's hectic. I have been trying to update with new writing every Wednesday, and I just don't think I'm going to have anything to put up today.

When I have time, I like to review stories over on the Web Fiction Guide (webfictionguide.com) to see what's going on in the world of writing. I've done over one hundred reviews over the past five years, and I strive for clarity, consistency and some measure of objectivity.

As whoever is still reading this site may have noticed, I haven't updated for awhile. I don't know when I'm going to make time for writing anytime soon. It might be later today, it might be a month from now. I do know it will not be scheduled and that bothers me. I apologize to people who enjoy the stories and spend time here.

My default position in life, since I was a toddler, is curious. My mother would tell me that, once I could walk, I would take books off shelves and look at them. I didn't rip them, colour in them, throw them around -- I was trying to figure out what they were.

I've been extremely busy at work since my new promotion, taking on new projects and trying to see them through to fruition, which hasn't given me a lot of headspace for creativity lately, and I owe readers an apology for that just because there haven't been updates and there were supposed to be.

So I've sat down probably 100 times in the last few weeks to write an update or a blog post only to be interrupted. Let's see if I can get through my third attempt today.

So there haven't been any updates this week because my wife and I were in the hospital with our twin sons. The two boys were born early in the morning on March 1st. Mother and babies are safe and healthy, but in the hospital for monitoring.
I am a very happy daddy and have been able to be there to support them, but tonight I'm home with our three kids to get them off to school and daycare tomorrow. Updates will resume as soon as possible but in the meantime I have to take care of my family, which I'm sure you all understand.
